  1. I can relate to this completely… I’m always being told that I “need to stop being so shy”, or “You won’t get anywhere in this world by being so shy.”, when in all reality, I’m just not one for meaningless chatter (something that, apparently, women especially are “supposed” to do). A lot of people don’t seem to understand that just because you’re not making a huge effort to be a part of their “Oh my god, did you hear that Quiznos isn’t organic?” conversation, it doesn’t mean that you’re shy/anti-social… maybe you just aren’t interested in talking about that.

    1. Yeah I hear I’m anti-social all the time at work and other places. I’m just not interested in what they’re talking about and I feel like my involvement won’t make the conversation any better. It’s weird we tend to always be the “odd man” out because we don’t partake in the norm.

      1. Lmao, that’s the perfect way to describe how I usually feel, “odd man out”! Yeah, you’re right, we do seem to fit that bill a lot, lol. Oh god, yes – that “anti-social” thing… I was always hearing that growing up: “You shouldn’t be so anti-social. It’s unattractive in girls.”
