Game of Thrones S6 E10 – “The Winds of Winter” (Spoilers)

Winter is here!

The season finale of Game of Thrones Season 6 aired last night, and I have to say the writers did a bang up job of leaving us wanting more, resolving series long rumors and theories.

Cersei and Sir Loras are to stand trial at the Sept, we watch ceremoniously as Cersei prepares to stand trail or so we think. Sir Loras mv5bmjmwntczndkynf5bml5banbnxkftztgwmtuxnzqyote-_v1_sy1000_cr006651000_al_is brought in and admits guilt and repents, asking the high Sparrow to allow him to serve the Gods. In doing so he has to denounce his claim to the Tyrell throne, and give up all of his worldly possessions. They accept and cut the symbol of the Septre into his forehead to which Margaery protests. The high Sparrow noticing the Queen mother is no where to be found and sends Lancel Lannister to retrieve her. We also see Not Joffery preparing for the trial. Cersei never planned on attending the trial because she’s an evil bitch who has tricks up her sleeves. She lore’s Lancel into a trap via Lord Varys’ little birds as well as Grand Maester Pycelle (who should’ve died three seasons ago, evil bastard). Long story short she blew the whole damn building up using dragons breath. Errrbody dead, Loras, Margaery, Margaery and Loras’ Father, Cersei’s uncle, the High Sparrow they all dead.

Not Joffery watches helplessly because Zombie Mountain won’t let him leave the room, he does what I wished he’d do a long time ago (Not Joffery sucks overall, he’s been a puppet of his mother, then Margaery, and lastly the High Sparrow, at least evil ass Joffery thought for himself), jumped out the window! Not Joffrey DEAD! Cersei’s the Queen Bitch now literally and figuratively. She leaves the sparrow nun looking chick who beat the shit out of her while she was locked up alive so that she can torture her ass via Zombie Mountain. I have to say I’m impressed with the level of evil the writers have given the Cersei character she’s like the evil Step-mother from all of the Disney movies times a thousand.

Jamie is still at Riverrun, busting it up with Lord Frey (I really hate that old man), he tries to share in similarities with Jamie who shuts him down by stating, “If we give you the North for you to only lose it, for us to have to help you win it again then what good are you” (something to that extent). There is a young girl eyeballing Jamie, but of course he only has eyes for his sister (gross), Bronn teases him about how easy it is for him to get women even with is one hand.

We see Walder Frey seated in an empty room the same girl that was eyeballing Jamie brings in a plate of food, Frey is wondering where his sons are and asked the young girl who reply’s “They’re right here”, while lifting a piece of the  meat pie uncovering what looks like a toe. The girl proceeds to take off her face and its none other than Arya Stark! Werk Bish! She cuts his throat before letting him know “I’m Arya Stark Bitch” and we no longer have to see the cat man from the Harry Potter movies, he DEAD!

Back at Winterfell, Jon and the Red Witch are talking when Sir Davos storms in tossing the little wood horse he made for lady Shireen. He demands she tell Jon what she did, and asked Jon for her to executed, or course Jon doesn’t but he banishes her to the south and threatens to execute her if she ever shows her face in the North. As she leaves the room Sir Davos reiterates Jon’s threat. Jon watches her leave and Sansa joins him, he lets her know that it was her that won the battle and that they have to start trusting each other.

Sansa later speaks with Little Finger who proclaims his desire to sit on the iron throne with Sansa by his side. He essentially asks her to trust him and not the bastard of Ned Stark.

27375_game_of_thrones-1000x5631-1000x490Flash over to Bran, Meera and Uncle Zombie Benjen, Benjen drops Bran and Meera off at one of those sacred face trees and tells them he can’t go further because of a spell that cast keeping the dead away. Bran touches the tree and we see him go into the past where he left his father running up the tower steps, Ned burst into the room to find a bloody Lyanna Stark who has just given birth. She asks if shes dreaming and if she can go home, Ned tries to comfort her, she whispers something into his ear as the wet nurse hands him a baby. Lyanna begs Ned to promise and as the camera pans over the face of the baby, the baby fades into a now grown Jon Snow! WTF! Jon Snow isn’t the bastard of Ned Stark after all he’s the nephew, but who dat baby daddy? Robert Baratheon or Rhaegar Targaryen?

Jon and Sansa sits amongst the Lords of the North and Little Finger, he asks that the men not retreat and stand and fight with him once again against a more diabolical threat. They protest until Lady Lyanna stands up and lets them know they are bitchass fuck boys and they need to keep their words like she has. They feel guilty and decide that Jon Snow is the true King of the North. Yay!

Samwell and Tilly finally make it to the Citadel.

Margaery’s grandmother meets with the evil bitches from Dorne, they along with Lord Varys form an alliance of vengeance.

Back in Mereen, Dany has to tell her boy toy that he can’t come to Westeros she needs him to stay in Dragons Bay, because Dragons trump/destroy slavers all day err day, Tyrion becomes the Queens Hand and pledges his loyalty to Dany.

The ships sail flying the Targaryen pennant, we see Theon, Yara, the dragons, Grey Worm, Missandei, The Dothraki, Lord Varys, Tyrion and Daenerys Targaryen.

Credits.

  1. I love that bell-toll sequence in the opening scene as “not joffrey” and company prepare for the trial… that foreboding sound said something was not quite right. I feel bad, but I’m not going to miss not Joffrey… he really was a tool. And yeah, Joffrey was a lot smarter. With Cersei in charge, everyone had better watch out… this is going to be interesting, like that ancient curse that goes, “May you live in interesting times.”

Ugh, I hated Lord Frey too (so many people on this show are complete bastards). I’m glad Arya just came in and killed him. She’s getting really good at that! I think the only thing I didn’t enjoy was the “behind the scenes” segment at the end, where the writers were talking about her revenge killing like, “Oh no, will she go down a dark path? It’s disturbing to see her this way.” She was well within her rights to off this guy. And now I remember where I first saw this actress – on several episodes of “Dr. Who”.

Lady Lyanna put all those grown-ass men in their place by showing more loyalty and courage than them, and calling them out on it (she has such a way of stealing the moment). And I can’t wait to see what goes down in Dorne, I really want to know what the grandma does.

I’m glad they’re making a lot of the scenes with Dany about her courage, her strategy, and her role as a leader. There are so many shows that start off with a great premise about a strong female protagonist, and then proceed to ruin it by making the entire thing about her love-life, or implying that her accomplishments mean nothing without a man.

    1. Yes I feel like we’ve watch Dany grow from a powerless victim to a strong leader. It’s been a great transformation to watch. I agree in other shows the strong female character always end up weak.

      1. I love it, her transformation is done so unapologetically. It’s a real change from the damsel stress needing a knight to save her from a dragon, or the high-powered business woman worried about her bio-clock, and “needing” a man to teach her what love is.
