Being Mary Jane S4 E2 “Getting Naked”

being-mary-janeSo I’m slowly but surely losing interest in this show and I blame the writers. Are they looking to cancel the show because if they keep on the path they are going no one will be watching. The only thing that might possibly keep me interested in this show is the eye candy.

Let’s review this pile of crap of an episode.

Is it me are is Kara super annoying so far this evening, why is she so hell bent in creating an opportunity for MJ? I’m confused. So MJ is in awe of Rhonda aka Big Dee Dee, but we all know Rhonda can’t be trusted, well everyone but MJ. Rhonda asks MJ to cover some charity gala award dinner where she’s receiving an award blah blah blah. Kara’s plot is for MJ to do some intel and dig up some dirt on Rhonda, Rhonda is an old “G” and they same plot is on her mind.

TV: HBO’s – “The Night of” & Netflix’s “Stranger Things”

Earlier this summer HBO premiered an M. Night Shyamalan original mini series “The Night of”, which follows the main character Nasir Khan as he’s arrested, convicted and placed on trial for the murder of a young woman he met after a night of partying . nightof02-590x219In eight episodes the show takes us on a journey into the complexities of the flawed and sometimes corrupt legal system, classism and xenophobia within the United States. I don’t want give away the show for those whom haven’t watched or are still catching up, but if you’re interested in this type of story it’s definitely worth the watch.

The second series I watched due to popular demand was original series presented by Netflix, “Stranger Things”, I’m late to the ballpark as far as this show is concerned because this show aired in July but I didn’t watch the series until late last month after the first season wrapped.

Stranger Things takes place “In a small town where everyone knows everyone, a peculiar incident starts a chain of events that leads to the disappearance of a child – which begins to tear at the fabric of an otherwise peaceful community. Dark government agencies and seemingly malevolent supernatural forces converge on the town, while a few locals begin to understand that there’s more going on than meets the eye.”¬† mv5bmjezmdaxotuymv5bml5banbnxkftztgwnzaxmzyzote-_v1_This series is a fantastic mosh pit of “The Goonies”, and “E.T.” and I loved every moment of it (I watched the entire season in three days). I loved that the protagonist¬†was a young girl #Girlpower. I’m still a little confused about a few things but I’m hoping season two will answer those questions. If you’re looking for an eighties throwback adventure/syfy story and you’re late to all things popular like me you should check this show out.

I must admit I love a good television show almost as much as a good book, I plan on watching “Insecure” another original HBO series created by and staring Issa Rae the creator of one of my favorite YouTube series “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl” (if you’ve never watched the show please do so it’s super hilarious), I think I’m going to check out FX’s “Atlanta” and Fox’s new series based off the movie “Lethal Weapon”, what are you guys watching? What should I be checking out that you guys are into? Let me know in the comments section below.

Recap: Being Mary Jane S3 E6 – Don’t call it a comeback

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving” – Albert Einstein

A girls night out is how this episode begins, MJ and a few of her journalist friends have girl talk at a lounge. I think this is the best part of the series for me watching grown mature adults have some shallow, some very intellectual conversation whether that be in MJ’s home over dinner or at a night club.

White chocolate makes an appearance (evidently she was hoping to see him which explains the choice in venue), it seems MJ is taking Mark’s advice in not seeking anything serious with cutty buddy. But by her going to the club waiting like some kind of stalker for white chocolate to show up she’s doing the exact opposite of what he told her, which is to let love come to here. She’s a glutton for punishment.

MJ gets boy advice from her new stylist enlisted by her friend Nichelle.

I hate that MJ is semi selling out, because she wants to focus all her energy in catching a new man. Just reaffirms the silly notion that all a woman needs is some good “D”/a man all will be right with the world.

Cutty buddy has a seizure after a session with MJ, she’s so fucking insensitive! How are you gonna say “seizures aren’t silly” when this dude was there for you when you lost your best-friend, through yo ugly cry . C’mon SON! I get not wanting anything serious with dude but at least be a little sensitive to his medical issues.
